AFAICT, these are left-overs from the era before FreeType when our X11 gfx had special code for various fonts.

It's not iso-8859-6. These are related x- encodings for fonts made by a company called LangBox. The encodings were added in bug 172491 and removed in bug 413613 but the removal missed these strings.
