User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20131205075310 Steps to reproduce: My profile directory is located on a network drive (linux server, samba). Actual results: The (caldav) calendars are there but the calendar is completely empty (no events are displayed; days, months, etc. are completely missing). In the context menu on the calendars, "New calendar" and "Synchronize" are greyed out, "Properties" does not work. All options in the context menu on the calendar are greyed out (New event, New task, etc.). The error console shows the following error message (sorry it is in German - if you need a translation let me know): Zeitstempel: 03.01.2014 00:45:12 Fehler: Components.classes['@mozilla.org/calendar/ics-service;1'] is undefined Quelldatei: resource://calendar/modules/calUtils.jsm -> file:///U:/.mozilla/thunderbird.slt/extensions/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/calendar-js/calUtils.js Zeile: 67 Expected results: If I copy the profile to a local drive and change the profiles.ini accordingly everything works as expected. Everything was working fine before I updated to the latest version of Thunderbird, so this behavior was probably introduced in Lightning 2.6.
OS: All → Windows 7
Hardware: All → x86_64
I can confirm this exact behaviour both on Windows 7 SP1 Professional (x86 and x64) and Windows XP SP3 Professional using Thunderbird 31.5 ESR and Lightning 3.3.3 (installed as a global extension) with domain users storing their profile on the logon-connected home drive (which is a network drive).
Just saw this bug by serendipity today. Having network-based profiles work would be a huge win for me. That would allow end users to log on to any of a variety of machines, and point Thunderbird to the same networked profile. This would make it MUCH easier for users to move around. Eventually, it would be great to allow that profile to exist out in the cloud somewhere.
Is this seen in version 38 and corresponding version of lightning?

(In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk, use Needinfo for questions) from comment #5) > Is this seen in version 38 and corresponding version of lightning? Just tested with 38.4.0 and it does work now (so bug resolved for me) under Windows 7 Professional as a Samba domain member (NT4 classic mode) on a user with the Thunderbird profile stored on his logon-connected home network drive (as Z:). Sorry for the delay in testing/verifying, but the embedded Lightning has given me a lot of headaches with the previously centrally installed Lightning extension... (but that's another affair).

Giuseppe, Thanks for the update. FWIW, the calendar update issues tracker is Bug 1215828
