In bug 940051 I was flagged needinfo. I wanted to redirect that to someone else so I went to the flag in the top right and replaced my email with someone elses. Then I typed my comment and clicked submit. What actually happened is the needinfo request was cancelled entirely, I suspect because the checkbox below the comment box about clearing the requested needinfo from me was still checked.

I think if I've changed the needinfo request then that checkbox should be ignored and the flag should just be changed rather than reset.
I hit this as well sometime in the past week or so, and I think vlad also did in bug 977418 comment 7.
