Once opening the search dialog, the only way to close it is to hit the X in my windowmanager. | Search -> Search Messages... | is the exact dialog
This was intentionally done with fix in bug 83763.

To clarify, the removal of the close button was intentional. Keyboard combination on windows (Alt+F4) works to close the window, I don't know whether linux has (or should have) generic keystroke shortcut here...
I'm not sure how/why I tagged this fixed.

I know that it sucks, but the only fix is to have an OK button.

Uh....why is that the `only fix'? The `only fix' is to hit the X as he said. I don't see the problem. Where's the OK button in the Navigator window?
The is no X because there is no window decoration. Navigator: File>Close.

Read the bug. "...without using window decorations." "Once opening the search dialog, the only way to close it is to hit the X in my windowmanager." Marking wontfix unless someone elaborates.

Arg. Not all window managers include close widgets. Window managers aren't required. In this case the reporter explicitly requested a way to close the window w/o using something provided by the window manager which is according to shaver expected behavior for X11 apps.

accel+W is generally used to close windows [eg, view source window]. however, the search window --like, for example, the page info window-- does not respond to accel+W. this at least is an accessibility issue, so adding that kw.

So it is. The dup has a patch to add a keybinding. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 101153 ***
