STR: 1.Read a newsgroup post in M.D.A.Thunderbird Ishikawa's recent post is a good one 2.Open a compose window using a template 3.Notice the Charset selection is charset=ISO-2022-JP Although I thought this was a current regression, apparently that is not the case. The same occurs as far back as: 20130916154224 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/25.0 I'm calling this Major, because if your not paying attention, you could be speaking Japanese, or some other language when not desired, and who knows if your recipient has that charset, or if it defaults properly. The pre-file with the wrong Charset goes away after a TB restart.

This also applies to Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/24.0.1 20131010053258

Based on the fact that this bugs symptoms are dependent on the messagePane being visible {it does not occur if it is visible) and https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=555693#c15 I'm calling this another manifestation of that bug and duping

It would be great if the target bug of the duplicate status would get at least SOME attention. It is still marked as unconfirmed while it is actually easy to reproduce.
