Details
Rather than having to rely on mutation events, which are slow and error-prone, it would be nice if IB would send a DOM event whenever a message is inserted into the chat window.

Would this still be better than mutation observers when a lot of messages are added in quick succession (e.g. on restoring a conversation from hold)?

On the behalf of Florian:
Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
