Steps to reproduce:

I just created following configuration file (config-v1.1.xml) for the customers of the goneo Internet GmbH in germany. 


Actual results:

I´ve tested this file on my local machine, and everything works fine.


Expected results:

Request review from bwinton, gozer or ben.bucksch.
Please add this file to your ISP Database.

Yes, I recognize Goneo as a reasonably big Germany hoster (hosting domains for other customers).

I indirectly work for goneo. I´m working for MK Netzdienste GmbH, the mother company of Goneo.
We are a provider too, but our main business are xDSL-Lines and so on.

I´m responsible for the server infrastructure of both companies.

Great!

The config is good. A few improvements:
* SMTP offers password-encrypted, and we should use that, even over SSL
* IMAP and POP3 unfortunately don't offer CRAM-MD5. Would you consider to enable it?
* SMTP SSL smtp.geneo.de:465 is available.
  We should add that, as first/primary config (keeping 587 STARTTLS as second config),
  because we prefer direct SSL/TLS over STARTTLS due to slightly faster connection setup speed.
* POP3 STARTTLS pop.goneo.de:110 is available.
  We should capture that, as second (lower priority) config. Not important, though.
* (FTR: IMAP STARTTLS imap.goneo.de:143 is not available, but it doesn't matter.)
* SSL certs match: They are *.goneo.de from RapidSSL

It's not a hard requirement, but it would be nice, if you were to choose to enable it.

Yes, I considered this, but in our actual infrastructure/configuration it is not so easy to offer CRAM-MD5. I talked to my colleagues, and we are planning it for the future.

Thanks. Please let us know when you deployed it.

(The advantage of encrypted passwords is that this allows (but doesn't force) to never have the plaintext password on the server, neither in the password database nor in transit. You can still support users logging in with plaintext passwords, by encrypting them in transit on your server before comparing with the database.)

Thorben, please verify in Thunderbird that it actually works. You will see a message "We found a configuration for your ISP in our database" or similar when the config appears in the dialog.

FWIW, I've added a descr as bwinton requested, and also referenced the TB and generic email settings pages directly, that's easier for people who don't speak German.
