Steps to reproduce:

I closed FF 29.0a1 (2014-01-21) and started it again.


Actual results:

The search engine icon isn't available in search bar


Expected results:

There should be the Google/Bing/Yahoo/... icon

Could you please try the following :

1) try this with a clean profile: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

2) running in Safe mode: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

I don't know what changed, but it works since today. Sorry!
