Details

Build: 2014-01-22 Nightly Firefox 29 OS: Android 4.2.2 Device: Galaxy Nexus Precondition: consider yourself a kid born in 2001 in January (1st-21st) Steps: 1. Settings -> -> Add account -> Firefox Account 2. Configure a new account 3. Add your birth year as 2001 4. Tap create new account Expected result: - As I already have 13y and some days I should be able to create my account Actual result: - I am still blocked in creation of my account. Note: - It will be hard to respect this only by year - maybe we should think to other implementation for COPPA security
Right, the current is set at 14 http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/mobile/android/base/fxa/FxAccountConstants.java.in#30 but the act dictates children under 13. I think we are playing it safe in our limited UI but some clarification would be nice from legal and from Ryan.
Flags: needinfo?(rfeeley)
This is true, in order to make Firefox 29 we are surfacing a year/decade picker only. This will exclude everyone under 13 as required by COPPA, but (until we implement a more nuanced approach) also some 13 years olds. High on our list to fix first after 29 releases.

tracking-fennec: ? → 29+
(Adjusting flag breakage, someone should mark this as + or 30 since I cant)
