I have defined some user state of minds based on conversations today and mapped those to two over-arching goals: quick and direct NAVIGATION with a purpose, and DISCOVERY for users whose goals are not as clearly defined.
Both user types should be able to interact with our tools and content in a meaningful way, with "meaningful interaction" defined as leading them toward a path of contribution.
As more an exercise in understanding state of mind than anything else, I also broke down user contributions as an act of CREATION or an act of CONSUMPTION (both perfectly valid, but may help illustrate personality types).
Would love feedback as always, to see if there is anything glaringly missing. I also feel that for the purpose of this work work, this may be as far as we want to take this diagramming for now; would like to revisit it when we have a prototype we can test these user flows against.
