User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20131205075310 Steps to reproduce: After being in Thunderbird for a while, I hit "Get Mail". Actual results: Apparently nothing. Expected results: I expected either to see messages appear in my various mail, news, and RSS feed folders, or to see "No new mail for [mail account]", followed by lots of repetitions "No new articles in [feed]", appear in Thunderbird's bottom status bar, as correctly happens if I get mail using the menu (File -> Get New Messages For -> All Accounts).
aiau, the icon only gets for one account, unless you have chosen the dropdown for "all". This is working fine for my pop account, version 41. Is it now working fine for you?

I have been assuming up to now that the dropdown menu next to the icon was always intended to be a separate control from the icon. That is, if I want to download only from certain accounts, I use the dropdown to select those accounts, one at a time. If I want to download from all accounts, I used the icon. There is no reason to use both, nor for me to assume a menu selection affects the later behavior of the icon button, since selecting a dropdown menu option does, in fact, cause a download by itself. Since this issue came up, I've changed to using the dropdown menu for all downloads and never bothering to click on the icon. Now you're telling me the dropdown is supposed to set what the icon does. If that were true, the fact that selecting an option causes a download would not make sense. Therefore, I propose that the behavior of the icon be changed to always download all accounts, as I had assumed it was already supposed to.

> Now you're telling me the dropdown is supposed to set what the icon does. no, I wrote that poorly. that is not what I am saying. clicking the icon only ever gets one account, the one currently "in effect" in the folder pane. And mousing over the icon will confirm that for you. This is working as designed
