According to https://www.dropbox.com/s/qm3qkvmjnl3h5f3/Registration%20Form.pdf if I interpret it correctly, on existing account during creation a user will automatically be signed-in. In Nightly (02/02), I got an 'Account already exists. Sign in' message, on tap of that, I was not logged in automatically but was kicked back to the sign-in screen. i) Is an existing account supposed to automatically sign-in with the credentials provided during account creation (i.,e on tap of 'Next')? ii) On tap of 'Account already exists. Sign-in', should I have logged in right there and then and not be bounced back to the sign-in form?
No, we don't automatically log in (yet). We only implemented the fallback (Bug 966106) -- strings, y'see. You should find that the sign-in screen is pre-populated with the credentials you entered. The ultimate smooth behavior is that you only get that error message if your password is wrong, and otherwise you sign in automatically, but that hasn't been built yet.
What does this do if you've elected to configure your datatypes? Then we sign you in automatically and discard your choices? I'm not thrilled with this late change to the game.
Well, your choices don't mean much if you've already set up Sync somewhere else...
(In reply to Richard Newman [:rnewman] from comment #3) > Well, your choices don't mean much if you've already set up Sync somewhere > else... Shitty flow is shitty. Grafting on a feature that conflicts with another feature is poor, and we shouldn't be rushing to do it. We should be pushing back and making sure that UX understands the different choices we've made on different platforms.
(In reply to Nick Alexander :nalexander from comment #4) > Shitty flow is shitty. Oh, for sure. One reason I only did the work for the human-directed flow, rather than automatic. No time to address all of the edge cases. (Me, I like the idea of reminding users at opportune moments (a) what they're syncing, and (b) what they could be syncing. But I doubt that's a popular opinion.)
