I was linked to this doc page by someone who thought it referred to the new Sync service (PiCL) but I'm guessing it refers to the current sync service.

In documents like this we should clearly indicate at the top what version of the service and what versions of Firefox it applies to.

I'm going to push the attached so that there's something up there right away, and we can keep this bug open to work on a more considered differentiation between the two systems sonce the run-your-own-sync1.5 docs are up and running.
