I'm using LiveUpdate's Crescendo Plug-In (http://www.liveupdate.com/) to play
MIDI and MP3 files.
There's no crash as reported in a bug for this plug-in in M17/M18, but the MIDI
and MP3 playback doesn't work as it should.
MIDI files are not played with all included instruments and MP3 files are played
too fast.
Also when opening two Mozilla windows which show a document with this plug-in,
then Mozilla gives a blue screen on W98SE, where I can return to Mozilla by
pressing space and Mozilla keeps running (haven't found any oddities yet)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download Crescendo 5.1 basic plug-in from http://www.liveupdate.com/
2. Put the Crescendo's NS plug-in files into Mozilla's plug-ins folder
3. Visit http://www.maddes.net/test/ and see yourself
Actual Results: a) The MIDI file was played but no all instruments were played
b) The MP3 file was played but much too fast
c) Blue screen because of two Mozilla windows using the Crescendo plug-in
Expected Results: a) The MIDI file with all the instruments should be played,
just like Netscape 4.78 does
b) The MP3 file should have been played in the original tempo
c) No crash
The MP3 problem could be a plug-in problem as Netscape 4.78 has problems playing
local MP3 files (slowed down computer or even crash).
But the MIDI problem should definitely by a Mozilla problem.
The blue screen is horrible, although Mozilla seems to run on with no problems
(this should be a higher severity).
Keep up the good work
Matthias "Maddes" Buecher
It doesn't crash for me on NT40. I do see not all channels playing. This is
strange and so far I have no idea how this can possibly happen.

Thanks for your fast reply-
I just tested two Mozilla windows with the Crescendo plug-in on NT 4.0 SP5 at
work too, and it does not blue screen/crash there either.
Maybe their is something only slightly wrong, which NT can overcome/handle but
not W98SE.
As far as I remember Netscape 4.78 and IE 5.5 SP1 had no problem running two
instances of the plug-in. Will test this tonight (CET) when I'm back at home.
Bye

I have tested the two windows problem on my Win98SE at home again.
If I use documents from the web like the ones on the given URL then there's no
problem with a blue screen even on my Win98SE.
But if I browse these documents locally I get the blue screen, this may result
from the plug-ins problem playing local MP3 files.
Summary:
========
1. The plug-in has problems with local MP3 files (which is known by the authors
at liveupdate.com and hopefully solved soon), which may lead to blue screens on
Win9x --> Not Mozilla related
2. MIDIs are not played with all their instruments because of a Mozilla bug.
3. There could be another bug in Mozilla (maybe related to #2) which makes MP3s
play too fast.
I hope that someone finds the time to have a look into Mozilla to solve this bug.

Haha, after I tried to change the URL in one of the Crescendo test windows
Mozilla crashed (Talkback was enabled).
The same worked great in Netscape 4.78.
P.S.:
New email address = New user (or can I change my old account somewhere?)

Okay, there are several different bugs here, some are dups.
First, I don't think you can change your Bugzilla account e-mail address without
opening a new one. Remember to cc: your new account on bugs reported and you can
turn off e-mail notifications for the old account by going to the "Prefs" link
on the buttom of this page (if you are logged in).
Second, since you crashed and had Talkback enabled, please include your Talkback
ID# so we can determine the location of the crash.
Netscape 4.x's LiveAudio plugin does not work because when we save files to our
cache, we mangle their filenames AND extension. See bug 90558. Crescendo may
require the extension to determine the media type.
I don't know what could be causing the speed problems. We may need some
Crescendo developer help to figure that one out.

#1 How do I determine my Talkback ID?
I found a talkback.ini, do you need any of these values?
#2 Bug 90558 could be a problem, but I state the MIME type in the EMBED tag
which should do the job (never mind - I'm just a user :)
LiveUpdate sent me the following mail about my Netscape/Mozilla problems:

using the build from 20020709 and cresendo 5.1 on winXP, the plug-in installs
correctly and plays specified plug-in (went to midiHaven)
