In the documentation, we recommend installing M2Crypto by using ametaireau's fork (which is a workaround a bug in Ubuntu and other distributions): http://zamboni.readthedocs.org/en/latest/topics/install-zamboni/installation.html#finish-the-install

However, it seems there's a better way now, by using the method explained in this post: http://blog.rectalogic.com/2013/11/installing-m2crypto-in-python.html

It installs M2Crypto from the debian repository:

  DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH=x86_64-linux-gnu pip install "git+git://anonscm.debian.org/collab-maint/m2crypto.git@debian/0.21.1-3#egg=M2Crypto"

This looks much better, and the doc should be updated accordingly
