User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20131205075310
Steps to reproduce:
I poked the maximize button on the FF widget and then poked it again to return to the original settings.
This is a Fedora 19 x86_64 system with KDE at 4.11.5-1.fc19.x86_64.
Actual results:
The FF widget returned to different settings. Specifically, the new widget was half a screen in height, the width was the same.
Expected results:
Minimize should have restored the original settings.

WFM with latest Nightly on Ubuntu 13.10 32-bit.
Could you please try the following :
1) try this with a clean profile: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
2) running in Safe mode: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Manuela,
Thank you for giving this problem your attention.
I tried FF with a clean profile. The behavior was unchanged.
I don't see the benefit of Safe Mode so I didn't do that. Except for this problem, I'm VERY happy with FF as it is configured. Safe Mode would perturb this situation as far as I can see. I didn't feel like examining EVERY setting I have made changes to since the problem does appear with a clean profile.
What are your thoughts on this?
Regards,
George...

If you are careful (reading the messages before clicking buttons), Safe Mode has no consequences, unlike Reset Firefox, which is proposed by Safe Mode — although Reset Firefox is supposed to make a backup in the Desktop directory. But a clean profile trumps Safe Mode.
Have you checked that it doesn't happen with other windows?

Hi,
I see this problem with LibreOffice and xemacs and kate (editor) and xosview. Konsole work, xterm work, all the others I have tried work just fine.
This is starting to feel like a KDE problem. Can you ask them to take a look please?
What's next?
Thanks,
George...

George,
Thank you for taking time to report this.
Are you still able to reproduce in the latest version ? I cannot reproduce in the current version.

Abe,
Thank you so much for looking at this problem.
I'm running FF 44.0b6. This specific problem appears to be fixed. However, maximize followed by un-maximize still exhibits the behavior.
Thanks,
George...

George, sorry for the delay on this one.
I am not reproducing this too. Can you give me detailed steps to reproduce the above new issues ? Thanks again.

Abe,
I just wrote down the motions/gestures/button pokes for the FF Beta... same procedures are the same for the other versions.
FF latest Beta: minimize/un-minimize -- works
rh-button poke on "maximize" button on upper rh-side of screen
ff maximizes; poke again and ff returns to original size and location
maximize vertically/minimize/un-minimize works
double click title bar lh-button, ff maximizes vertically, double click again
and ff returns to original size and location
maximize vertically/full screen/un-full screen fails
double click title bar lh-button, ff maximizes vertically; rh-button on upper rh-side
of widget; ff maximizes to full screen; rh-button of widget, ff returns to small size,
NOT maximized vertically.
maximize vertically/minimize/un-minimize works
double click title bar lh-button, ff maximizes vertically. rh-button poke minimize
button, ff minimizes to task bar. rh-button on ff icon in task bar restores ff to
original size and location.
How's that?
My system is Fedora 22 and my desktop is KDE with 3 virtual screens defined. All testing happened on screen 1.
Perhaps this is a KDE bug?

Karl,
I wonder if this might be a KDE bug. Is there a way to display the values that FF Nightly is getting/receiving from KDE?

NSPR_LOG_MODULES=Widget:5 is the simplest place to start.

If you are keen to investigate further, then this program uses the RECORD
extension to log window manager communication and focus changes.
Before running, use "xrestop -b -m 1" to find the "res_base" corresponding to
Firefox. Change the 'o' to '0' and pass that as the first argument to this
logging program, and use Ctrl-C to terminate.

Karl,
I got your code running (thanks for that) but then decided to try with the Beta FF. Same symptoms/problems. I'll try with the released version and report here.
