Details

Build 2001080110, Win98SE, IMAP. Attempting to forward a message (inline) with attachments >1MB hangs Mozilla. I suspect this may be related to the bug which doesn't allow downloading of messages >1MB, but I don't know how to verify this.

reporter, What is the file type that you are attaching? Which account are you using imap or pop?

Component: Mail Back End → Composition
Using IMAP. Doesn't seem to matter what the attached filetype is, if it's bigger than 1024K (or so) the composition window hangs, thus hanging all of Mozilla.
does the hang happen when you click Send or when we are trying to bring up the compose window?
It hangs after bringing up the compose window. The compose window comes up, there is disk activity suggesting that the attachments are being retrieved, and eventually the disk activity subsides (roughly consistent with the time it takes to load an email with a 1MB attachment on my system). At this point I can do other non-Mozilla windows activity, but Mozilla doesn't respond, and portions of the Mozilla mail window which get covered don't get repainted upon becoming topmost again.
do you have any low disk space issues?
No, >500MB free. Are you unable to confirm this? It's vaguely possible that I simply didn't wait long enough (waited several minutes, I did notice that a 300K forward took ~30 seconds to return control to the compose window).
Reporter, Can you attach the attachment to the bug. I can try to see if it can be reproduced on my machine. I am using approximately 1MB to 5MB attachments and so far not able to see the problem. I also tired forwarding a messsage which has image which is large. Worksforme. If you are still seeing this problem attach the file in this bug or please comment if you not seeing this problem anymore so that this can be resolved. thanks.
Well, my last few attempts have worked, so unless I can reproduce the problem let's assume it was operator error. Please set status to whatever's appropriate...
Hmm! marking this as worksforme based on reporter's comments.
