968992 - 500 thrown when merging a group into a functional area

Description

Steps to replicate:

1. Edit a functional area (in staging or dev). For example, https://mozillians.allizom.org/admin/groups/group/1/
2. Find a group in the "Merge" interface that can be redirected to this one (for example, "accessibilitry")
3. Move it into the selected merge box
4. Save

Expected behavior: 
The group is saved, the selected group is merged into it

Actual behavior:
500 error, "We're sorry something went wrong"

I successfully merged accessibilitry with accessibility. Probably this was fixed along with bug 968988 and bug 969063.

I have verified this is working now in stage. Screenshot shows a merge of groups "adds-on" and "addons" into functional area "add-ons".
