96929 - Curley quotes inside a FONT FACE tag display wrong

The attached URL demonstrates a problem with putting curley quotes and such
inside a FONT tag that has a FACE specified.  Some of the characters inside the
FONT tag display as accented characters, while the ones outside the FONT tag
display properly.  For example, a right-single-quote displays as a "y" with some
dots over it.

Perhaps you need to have the MS web fonts loaded on your system for this to not
work properly.  I'm using KDE 2.2 with several extra TT fonts available.  You
can download the fonts here:

http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fontpack/default.htm

For Linux, you can manually unzip the .exe file that you download.

This bug affects the entire msnbc.com site -- all the "curley" punctuation on
that site is rendered incorrectly.

I tried uninstalling the MS Web Fonts and it didn't have any effect on the bug,
so my last W.A.G. looks to be wrong.

I'm using Mandrake 8.0 with upgrades to XFree86 2.1.0 and KDE 2.2.  Any idea
what else I could check to see why it is failing on my computer?

This bug is a duplicate of bug 86563 (no enough privilege to modify this bug
directly)

This is a Mandrake 8.0 bug. I though it was corrected with XFree86 4.1 which 
will be shipped with Mdk 8.1 (that is why 86563 is closed) but I'm still seeing 
it in latest Mdk 8.1 beta (and cooker)..

Marking dupe as per Frederic Crozat at MandrakeSoft.  Any idea on when this bug
will be fixed by mandrake?  I don't see this on any other distrobution.
