Steps to reproduce:

I've run into issues where extensions are updated that need a restart to complete the update.  Firefox doesn't tell me that the extensions in question were updated or that it needs a restart to complete that update.  So I keep using Firefox unaware that Firefox wants to be restarted.

One such extension happens to be NoScript.  So my security might be at risk in the meantime.


Actual results:

Firefox updated extensions that required a restart, but didn't ask for that restart.


Expected results:

When such extensions need a restart to complete their update, tell the user with a door hanger.

I was unable to reproduce this issue on Firefox Nightly 53.0a1 (2016-12-07) under Windows 10 64-bit: http://screencast.com/t/9Okqz0pnUv


Is this issue still reproducible on your end?  If yes, can you please retest this using latest FF release and latest Nightly build (https://nightly.mozilla.org/) and report back the results ? When doing this, please use a new clean Firefox profile, maybe even safe mode, to eliminate custom settings as a possible cause (https://goo.gl/PNe90E).

Sorry.  I haven't used Firefox for Windows in ages.  I've moved to Palemoon which doesn't even use Gecko anymore.  You'll need to ask someone else.

Considering the fact that I cannot reproduce the above mentioned bug (because the user in successfully prompted in about:addons with a “Restart now” link) and there were no other complaints related to this issue I will mark this bug as WFM. 

If anyone can reproduce it, feel free to reopen the issue and provide more information.
