From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90) BuildID: 2001080110 Put the URL in Mozilla, and you get goldentiger24@bigfoot.com is an invalid e- mail address. Put the URL in another browser (IE 5.5 SP1) and you get goldentiger24@bigfoot©com is an invalid e-mail address. Mozilla isn't doing something right, or bugzilla is messed up. Either way, something to look into. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to sign up for an account at http://www.mozilla.org/quality/help/bugzilla-helper.html with Mozilla 2. Type in a valid e-mail address. Try to register, and registration will fail. 3. Do steps 1 and 2 with another browser, and registration will succeed. Actual Results: Registration failed -- Mozilla Registration succeeded -- IE 5.5 SP1 Expected Results: Registration should have succeeded. The e-mail address was valid. Mozilla returned a © for every period in the form field where the e- mail address was inserted. When © was returned by the bugzilla program, Mozilla displayed © as . confusing the issue. Easy workaround, use another browser! Not the best answer, but it does work. Right now, I am using IE 5.5 SP1 to enter the bug, just to avoid problems...
When I go to the url mentioned above I got an error that the Mailaddress is incorrect. Since %A9 correspondends to the Char 169 (Copyright-Sign) and not to '.' the errormessage is correct and Bugzilla is O.K. Then I created a new account with the same login (goldentiger24@bigfoot.com - you might have received the bugzilla-mail, sorry =) and no problems occured. From where did you get the %A9-Url ? Wfm 2001082506 Linux
Ok. I started up Mozilla again, 2001080110 is the build, and I went to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/createaccount.cgi I typed the following in at the first box goldentiger24@bigfoot.com I hit "Create", then "Ok" on the following dialog box. A new page appears, URL http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/createaccount.cgi?login=goldentiger24%40bigfoot% A9com&realname=&id= message is the following Check e-mail syntax The e-mail address you entered (goldentiger24@bigfoot.com) didn't match our minimal syntax checking for a legal email address. A legal address must contain exactly one '@', and at least one '.' after the @, and may not contain any commas or spaces. It must also not contain any of these special characters: \ ( ) & < > , ; : " [ ] or any whitespace. Please click Back and try again. The bug may have been fixed in another build. I download the basic build, 2001080110 from the Win32 area of this page http://www.mozilla.org/releases/ the first option. Most likely it is some sort of character file goof-up, and doesn't effect a lot of platforms, or versions, of this program (like when the character "F" was not put into the english alphabet in a version of Subspace). Download URL for this program is below... I think... http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla0.9.3/mozilla-win32-0.9.3- installer.exe
Ok I can't reproduce it with 2001081703 Windows 2000 either. So I guess this was fixed a few weeks ago. You can now download a nightly build ( http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/ ) or wait for the 0.9.4-release, which should be soon. I will mark this bug fixed now, if the problem persists with a build >= 20010817 you should reopen it.
