In SIM manager of dual-SIM devices, users can select a primary SIM (SIM 1 or SIM 2) for different function. We found the strings should be revised. Please check the attachment as reference.

Current strings:

Outgoing call
-Calls will be sent from

Outgoing messages
-SMS will be sent from

Data
-Internet connection, MMS, A-GPS and Marketplace payments will be sent from

Expected strings:

Outgoing calls
-Calls will be dialed via

Outgoing messages
-SMS will be sent via

Data
-Internet connection, MMS, A-GPS and Marketplace payments will be set to

Hi Matej,

Can you please help to review the strings here? Ping me if you need more information. :-)
Thanks!

Hi Axel,

If we revise the strings, can the change get into 1.3 in time?
Thanks!

Just to make this explicit, the timeline for copy in 1.3 was over last year. Copy needs to be done before patches land.

I don't think that landing these as grammar fixes requires re-translation, but it's not going to be zero-impact on the l10n ecosystem either.

Hard string freeze for 1.3 is on the 14th, I'm not convinced we need these for 1.3.

Agreed - these are non-critical string changes & are minor overall. Not blocking.

Here are my suggestions:

Outgoing calls
-Calls will be made using

Outgoing messages
-Messages will be sent using

Just not totally clear on this last one. I'm not sure what "Internet connection … payments" would be. Is "A-GPS" something a user would understand? Should it be "sent to" instead of "set to"?

Data
-Internet connection, MMS, A-GPS and Marketplace payments will be set to

Thanks.

Tina, please help check if its still worth to do so

Hello Matej,

After offline discussion with developers, we had a common decision that A-GPS should be hide in data description. Because it isn't familiar to users and it merely needs minor data.

I also recalled that we had a new description with "Data Connection" couple weeks ago as following:
-Data Connection: "Automatically fetch mobile network data." (Bug 1218705)

Do the description of "Data" need to be refined in consideration of consistency?

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question. Can you clarify what you need from me? Thanks.

I noticed that "mobile network data" was used in description of Data Connection, and "internet connection" was used in description of Data.

I'm sure that they indicate the same thing. Shall the description of Data use the similar string?

I feel like those two things could be different, but if they're the same, let's use the same string. It would be good to confirm, though.

To clarify comment 10, "mobile network data" is a specific thing, but "Internet connection" could also be over Wi-Fi. "Data" is also something that can be measured, while "connection" is something that's either on or off.
