This is wild speculation, so I half expect "don't be crazy" or "we already do that". @mozilla.org/widget/idleservice;1 is the idle service. Components can register tasks (such as bookmark backups) to be performed on idle. ./widget/nsIIdleService.idl I also see a DOM interface, nsIIdleObserver. I don't know if these two things are linked. ./dom/interfaces/base/nsIIdleObserver.idl We should run zero of these jobs during GeckoApp's lifecycle. onPause, while the Gecko thread is still live, we should trigger idle, so these background jobs can run. Thoughts?
