User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/32.0.1700.107 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: -Load webpage -Right click, select "Save Page As" -Select location and select "Text Files" as in the "Save as type" field -Click "Save" -Check to see the file correctly saves as a .txt file. -Load a different page in same format as first page -Right click, select "Save Page As" -Keep same location, "Text Files" defaults in "Save as type" as it should (essentially don't change anything during the second save attempt) -Click "Save" Actual results: The first web page saves correctly as a .txt file. The second page saves as an HTML Document file despite "Text Files" being selected. If I toggle the "Save as type" from "Web Page HTML Only" (or any other option) back to "Text Files", the page saves correctly as a .txt file Expected results: The second page (and subsequent pages) should have saved as a .txt file without having to toggle the "Save as type" drop down.
[bugday-20140217] Tested on Windows 7 64bit FF Version 30.0a1 (2014-02-17) Confirmed I see the same behavior Tested on pages in Wikipedia The first page https://www.wikipedia.org/ Save as “Wikipedia.htm” using txt the file saves as and select "txt" Move to page https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Portada Save as “Wikipedia, la enciclopedia libre.htm” leave txt The page saves as .htm
Hi Erik, I have managed to reproduce the issue using latest Firefox release (43.0.4) and latest Nightly build (46.0a1). I noticed at the second save attempt the file name has ".htm" extension and the save type remained "Text Files" from the first save attempt. This causes the file to be saved as ".htm". A workaround for this issue is to select another Save Type and then select back "Text Files" type. This changes the file name with ".txt" extension and the page is saved as Text Files. Firefox: 43.0.4, Build ID: 20160105164030, User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:43.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/43.0 Firefox: 46.0a1, Build ID: 20160107030235, User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0 Considering this, I will mark this as NEW and assign a component to it. If someone considers that the component is not the right one, please feel free to change it with a more appropriate one. Thanks, Cosmin.
