About 20 news group messages were not displayed when clicked on. When double-clicked on, a new window would open and sometimes display the message. The same groups were rechecked with another reader and the messages that were not displayed were active messages.
Please read this document: http://www.mozilla.org/quality/bug-writing- guidelines.html or use this page to file in the future. I'll need a build ID (latest nightly), news server, and the newsgroups you used. Thanks. Also, this should've been filed in the Networking - News component.

http://www.mozilla.org/quality/help/bugzilla-helper.html is the page to help you file bugs that get looked at prompter (because they're more accurate).
From ben via mail: The build, my friend, is: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:0.9.3+) Gecko/2001082909 The news server: Netscape, the newsgroup: secnews.netscape.com - n.n.windows. <end quote> I'll go check this out now
Okay, so here's the URL; snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.netscape6.windows. Ben, can you tell me which messagages you clicked on weren't displayed? Please comment in the bug, rather than mailing me directly, thanks.

Summary: News groups → Some postings not displayed properly
Ok, the messages are now gone from my system, however, every so often one of the messages would show blank and after some fiddling around, I found that if I double clicked on the message, a new message window would open and the message would be properly displayed. Close the new window and click on the message in the upper window and the message would then be displayed in the bottom window. This is also the case when an error message indicating the message was no longer on the server is received - double click on it brings up the message. I have since gone to a different build, number 2001083103 - and so far it is behaving.
That newsgroup works for me with build 2001-09-06-09 on Windows 2000, you could be running into the "clicking slightly too fast makes us not fully get the headers" bug, but as this worksforme currently, marking as such.

It's not a matter of clicking too fast. There's either a problem with the server not sending the data or the system not capturing it properly.
I had no problem with build 2001-09-11-03 on snews://secnews.netscape.com/netscape.netscape6.windows, so marking this verified worksforme.
