Not only did I get sent an email for editing an attachment although my global email pref is set to not email me for my own edits, there doesn't appear to be a way to filter attachment edit email.

Bug 97764 deals with getting the e-mail even though your prefs say you don't want mail on your own changes. Morphing this bug to cover the second half, filtering the attachment e-mail. I guess there's two possabilities: 1. Add a category for the attachment tracking stuff (will dep. on bug 73665) 2. Expand the existing 'New Attachments' to included changes.
Summary: Too much bugmail → Need filtering category for attachment status

Changing default owner of Email Notifications component to JayPee, a.k.a. J. Paul Reed (preed@sigkill.com). Jake will be offline for a few months.

Unloved bugs targetted for 2.18 but untouched since 9-15-2003 are being retargeted to 2.20 If you plan to act on one immediately, go ahead and pull it back to 2.18.

Isn't this already handled now, in 2.18 or 2.19? Travis, you touched this code recently, do you know?

Well the flags can't or don't yet provide the effect I need, which is never to email me when I change a bug; b.m.o still notifies me for my own flag changes.

In fact, bugzilla tells me that my request was cancelled when in fact someone changed my (admittedly inadvertent) - to a ? :-(

As preed is no longer actively working on Bugzilla (from what I know), I somehow doubt that this bug will make it in for 2.20. :-) If I'm wrong, feel free to take it back and re-target it. :-)

The reason is that Flag.pm only checks whether you want to get a notification when a request made by you changes, not whether you globally not want to get notifications when changes are made by you. I don't see this as a major issue, but we could still take it for 2.22, even if it's more an enhancement than a bug.

There has been some discussion in mozilla.governance on the need for additional UI to control flag-related email. My proposal there was: 1) An additional row of email prefs checkboxes: "Flag status changes" 2) Another global option: [ ] "Email me when someone sets a flag on an attachment I uploaded" These seem to cover most of the use cases (although nothing is ever perfect).
