Steps to reproduce:
Nothing. Just went in to check Preferences and discovered Privacy set to "Remember history" rather than "Use Custom settings for history" that I've been using forever.
Actual results:
Preferences automatically reset to "Remember history". Any attempt to change it back to Custom is ignored.
Expected results:
Preferences should NOT be changed automatically and should remain as set.
Filing this as a security issue since it opens access to cookies which I use Custom to help protect against.

Firefox shows the "(Never) Remember history" setting if all the history and cookie setting are the default. Make at least one change to the default setting if you want "Use custom settings for history" to stay selected. Otherwise Firefox will revert to "(Never) Remember history" if you return to the Privacy tab. The choice "Use custom settings for history" will stay selected as long as not all settings are the default to make you aware that you made changes.

Whatever triggered this situation reset the settings to default on its own... Your comment made me realize that "Accept cookies from sites" was always UNchecked in my setup. Something turned it on... to me, changing settings, especially those affecting (cookies) is a security issue.
The question is when and how did this get reset to default (without my knowledge)?
Re-opening with revised summary. This resulted in a lot of cookies I normally do not accept. Took nearly 15 minutes to clear them out.

"Accept cookies from sites" remains checked/unchecked to me, 30.0a1(2014-03-04).

Reopen when you're able to reproduce and identify the cause
