I have readhat 7.1 and Sun Java 1.3.1. Java seems to load now. However, some
java scripts take minutes to load is this normal?

This is a rather vague report. What Java code takes a long time to load? Pls
attach any test cases that you might have to help us understand this bug.

Ok try java.sun.com, there is a java applet under Get local! nothing seems to
happen, the page is loaded, nothing happens as far as I can see with this
applet. (I have seen it work once.)
Try http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.2/docs/relnotes/demos.html. Demos here
seem to work but are slow in loading, e.g. not in seconds timeframe.

Reporter, what build of mozilla are you using? Please try the latest nightly
build from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest-trunk/ and see if
it is still slow for you.
Also, what computer are you running mozilla on? How much RAM? What processor?

Computer details: 256MB memory and a 850Mhz Duron chip. Will upgrade to latest
build and give it a go.

I am running mozilla build 2001091421. Java applets generally seem to load in a
reasonable time (java looks cool). I have noticed the following problems at
www.2nu.com/Wayne.
1. Loading fractal planet applet, the applet appeared to have loaded (message
confirmation at bottom of mozilla), but only a grey box appeared in the applets
place. Exited mozilla and going to the page again caused the applet to work.
(reloading page had no effect on starting java applet).
2. On the main page of www.2nu.com/Wayne, the applet failed to initialise one
time (message on mozilla frame confirmed this). Again exiting mozilla cured the
problem. (reloading page had no effect on starting java appplet.)
Reassign to Joe as I'm leaving the role of OJI module owner.

I can not reproduce latest reported problems (www.2nu.com/Wayne)
with latest build and both jre1.3.1 and 1.4beta3.
Also applet load performance seems acceptable -
all mentioned applets started in seconds for me.
Original reported problem was slow load of applets -
if we agree it is gone (reporter's comment from 2001-09-16 02:26)
then i suggest to close this bug as fixed.
If problems with applet initialization are still reproducible
(please try latest 1.4beta3) then i suggest to file new bug for it.

I don't have redhat 7.1. However, based on Igor's comment dated 2001-11-14 05:53,
this bug does not exist anymore. Marking verified. Please re-open if this still
exist. Thanks!
