Hi
I'm from Switzerland and I have a folder named Töff in my Mail, where a lot of
Mail is coming in. I'm using Build 2001082909 and it seems Mozilla cannot
delete/move or copy multiple messages out of such folders. Well actually
strangely it worked in one or two cases, but not usually.
Steps to reproduce:
- Add a folder with the name Töff (or any other name with ä, ö or ü) and move
more than one message into it (i tested it several times with 3 and 4).
- Then try ANY of the three options of copy, move or delete, they have no
action. hitting the delete button on the keyboard also has no action...
Seems like the batch copying/moving/deleting doesn't get this "special" folder
right so it's not able to do anything...
Thanks
Matt

reporter,
Do you have filter set up for 'Töff' folder? How are you trying to delete, copy,
move messages? (3 pane-file menu, toolbar buttons or drag and drop)
I am using 2001-09-04-06 on win98. I create a the above folder both in imap as
well as pop account. I was able to delete, move, copy multiple messages from this
folder. worksforme. Can you try this on recent build? Also try to delete .msf
file for that folder, restart and see if this fixes your problem.
Hi
Added some further Folders (götz and göff :) ) and tested with them.... I have
no problems moving mails TO those folders but I still cannot delete/move/copy
them from such a folder... Well, strangely it worked ONE time (of about 100
tries), but besides that it didn't work. I tried to delete/copy/move with:
- pressing DEL or pressing the del-button in the mail window
- Drag&Drop
- over the right click menu
- over the message-menu
All with the same result: nothing
Changing the design of the messenger doesn't result in anything neither (those
two different 3 pane views in the preferences).
For my Töff-Folder I have several rules active but for my test folders not and
both show the same result...
I'm using Build 2001082909 on w98 (german version), will try it on a newer one
soon and will also try it at home wether there's the same result. (can do this
tomorrow)
Strangely i have NO .msf files for my test folders??? (and no file with that
name for them neither, though i have some for all other folders?? Even tried to
compact all folders, I dont have such files?? (restarted several times)
Or is there the small possibility that mozilla didn't like my "transfer" of my
mailfiles? Since I didn't manage to make mozilla see my copied files from my
main computer at home, I added a new account with the same name etc (even same
profile name) and copypasted the mailfiles in there... maybe that killed
something?? Just a thought....
Thanks
Matt

using buildid: 2001-09-27-05 on win98 (english version) I was not able to
reproduce your problem. As per your comments below looks like you are able to
move/copy/delete is working on other folders with similar name. It could have
had to do some corrupted messages or .msf corruption.

Hi
I tried it now on 3 different machines:
two Win2000 Professional
one Win98
Builds:
092403 on one win2k
092703 one the win2k and win98
It's always the same. But what I found out: Deletion works with Shift-Del
(Whatever this does???? Seems to be some kind of undocumented direct delete).
Again. Steps to reproduce (that's how I testet it on all three systems):
Create a folder with the name: mööö
Copy two or more messages into it (tried from several different folders)
Select them and press delete or whatever.... nothing happens
I dont think it's only me.. In fact I havens seen a system so far where it
worked...
btw: It's all tested on pop3-accounts, if that makes any difference
Please tell me further steps I could do to give you some clues on how to track
this one down!
Thanks a lot
Matt
