This is a request for a minor copy change on http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/os/ Replace "Discover more apps on the Firefox Marketplace" with: "Discover more apps on Firefox Marketplace" Firefox Marketplace is a product. I'm attaching editorial guidelines for reference

Some pages have been localized so we also have to call for localizers.

NI myself to not forget to look into this bug. I don't think the actual translation should change because of this en-US change, but we need to avoid displaying en-US content at the same time.

Strings duplicated in r125726. Will remove the obsolete ones once this change is pushed to prod, so you're good to merge this.

Note that the Developer Hub still contains a lot of "The Firefox Marketplace": https://marketplace.firefox.com/developers/
We should probably mark this as verified, considering pages are on production. Obsolete strings removed in r125873.
Namir - these editorial guidelines are great, but I was totally unaware of them (we refer to *the* ff marketplace several times in firefox accounts screens). Is there a central place in the public wiki where these (and other app) editorial guidelines are located, so I can help catch any future editorial errors?

Just FYI jslater and mnovak.
Hi all, Just because the Marketplace is a product isn't a reason to not use "the" in front of it. We've discussed this in other bugs and email threads, yet it keeps coming back around. There are times we may only refer to it as "Firefox Marketplace," but "the Firefox Marketplace" or "the Marketplace" are totally acceptable (and even preferred). As I've expressed before, we're following the industry on this. Google doesn't use it because "Play" isn't a common word for a store, so "visit the Google Play" doesn't make sense. Apple, on the other hand, does use it because "get it from App Store" sounds like bad English. We're in the latter camp. "Download it from Firefox Marketplace" and "visit Marketplace" sound awkward at best and like a mistake at worst. Please let me know if you have any questions, but I feel very strongly that this remain as is. Thanks.

Big +1 for what Matej wrote in comment #10. We really need the 'the' in there. Let's please leave it as is. Niran, perhaps this is part of a larger conversation we need to have around Marketplace style guide stuff?
I send a new pull request to revert the previous change. flod, sorry to trouble you but can you please revert your l10n change on SVN?

Leaving needinfo open. Unfortunately I can't just revert it (there are multiple changes), so I'll wait for this to land on prod and then fix the strings again.
All, to clarify, this bug was created before we started the conversation around MP messaging. Scott created a editorial style guide which I attached to this bug where the guideline was that were were to refer to Firefox Marketplace without the "The". I understand this is still an ongoing discussion.

I feel like the way we refer to our products is pretty locked, so I wouldn't necessarily call this ongoing, but will follow up with Scott to resolve.
Clearing needinfo for now.

Closing. Assuming inactivity means John and Scott worked this out. Also the page this refers to has been redesigned.
