Testing a Build from https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/fx-team/rev/5efe0f428d4b I noticed the blue star button.

It feels kind of "strange" - with all that grey-ish/blue-ish chrome ui coloring, the default-wise blue-ish google search favicon.

Is there any specific reason for the need of color change?
Does this change outweigh the break of consistency against all Firefox versions since the star got introduced?

Has it been considered making the bookmarking animation being yellow instead if that's the intention?

Can the yellow star button be brought back?

This is a consistency change, the mac bookmark-starred icon was already blue before. Stephen decided to make the bookmark-starred icon blue on Windows to match mac and the animation.

Besides, a yellow animation would look strange.

I think this change won't bother me much, as I can get used to it. Blue or Yellow won't change much, but I do agree that yellow is used by other browsers, and people are used to that.

Need-info-ing for Stephen's decision/explanation.

More than 90% users are using Windows systems, which always have the yellow colored star button. Instead of matching it to niche systems, niche systems like Mac or Linux should be matching Windows instead.

Whatever happened to making Firefox integral with the OS design.  IE11, and Chrome both have a yellow-star.  For nothing else than 'parity' should the Win7 version set back to Yellow.

The 'blue-animated' star felt out of place when it landed, and should also be yellow.

Are you really bikeshedding about the color of the star?  Australis points towards a more common style across OS, many things look not native in it, the star is definitely not the first one, nor it will be the last one, I suppose.
I don't think the decision ever happened because of the Mac version, from what I know the blue version just couples better with the overall Australis visual design. And indeed it visually merges much better than yellow. So please leave out a pointless Mac vs Windows discussion.
