983656 - Lots of messages marked as unread after doing Repair Folder action

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_7_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/33.0.1750.149 Safari/537.36 OPR/20.0.1387.77

Steps to reproduce:

Right click on Inbox or Sent via sidebar, select "Properties..."' and hit "Repair Folder" on the popup box, and wait until it finishes.



Actual results:

Thousands of messages being marked as unread (vary, depending on total messages you have.)


Expected results:

Messages should remain their read/unread status.

Other notes:

I also found It does not mark all to unread, instead it marks all the messages that received or sent right after the day when Thunderbird makes the first run and downloaded all the message up to that date.

I do the repair folder tasks often, and I don't think this issue had happened before, so I doubt this might be a particular issue on the current version.

So now you see many unread messages. If you mark them read and repair the folder again, are those same messages unread again?

I did. Those unread messages will be marked as read if I do the "Mark Folder Read" action. And same issue appears again (same as above) if to repair the folder again.

Can you see if this is the same as bug 840418? Compare the source of the messages whether the proper values are stored in the headers.

Oh, I think it's the same bug. But no one mentioned read/unread issue there.
