User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140212131424 Steps to reproduce: I have a functioning FF sync account which I've been using for a number of years - the account username is not an email address (the username format doesn't include an '@' symbol). This account is active on a Win7 SP1 (ff 27.0.1) and Mac 10.9.2 (ff 27.0.1) install and has been working great for a number of years (and multiple versions of ff at least from 20.x -> 27.0.1. Actual results: I've just downloaded the aurora 29.0a2 build (on a Win 7 client) to test out the new ff sync functionality, and it refuses to allow my non-email sync username to login to my existing ff sync account. Expected results: my ff sync username should just work..

Just wondering if any more diagnostic info is required to start looking into this issue?

Hi Duro, Thanks for the report, sorry it took so long to get to the right eyes! We're introducing a new version of Sync in Firefox 29 that works with a "Firefox Account". If you're upgrading to Firefox 29 in a new profile where Sync wasn't previously set up, then you can no longer associate that version of Firefox with an "old sync" account (it will not accept your old Sync credentials, since they aren't a Firefox Account). If you want to help test the new Sync, you can follow the steps at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-update-to-the-new-firefox-sync. If you want to continue to use the old Sync, you need to complete the pairing of a given profile in a version of Firefox older than 29. You can then update that profile to a newer build and Sync will continue to work. Does that make sense?
Great, thanks for the email Gavin.. So is there an option to migrate the old sync to the new sync ("Firefox account")? From your description below I'm guessing not.. So how would you recommend I upgrade my 3 computers to the same sync account.. 1. Sync all FF28.0 profiles to the existing account. 2. Pull synced changes down to main computer (so that FF28.0 profile is up-to-date) 3. Create a new "Firefox Account" 4. Upgrade all browsers to FF29.x 5. Associate main computer FF29.x with the new "Firefox Account" 6. Associate all remaining FF29.x installs with the new "Firefox Account" 7. Prompt all browsers to sync
Apologies, more or less the 1-7 points above are reproduced on your linked page (in the post above): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-update-to-the-new-firefox-sync If you have any further clarifications I'd be happy to hear them..
Soundsslike this wasn't a bug
