German dictionary fails with abbreviations

Details
German dictionary (Wörterbuch Deutsch (de-AT), Hunspell-untersützt 20130905).
If you have an abbreviation ending with a period, the spellcheck wants to add another period. Example: "ggf." would be corrected to "ggf.." which is still marked as wrong and gets corrected "ggf..." and so forth.

Abbreviations are mentioned there, but it seems to be mainly about word groups. I haven't seen further discussion in bug 306240 about the abbreviations.
