We track MDN traffic sources in Google Analytics. It reports 49% of traffic to "/Tools" comes from "Direct". We should add url parameters to the MDN links in the Developer Tools to get more specific data. e.g., ?utm_source=Firefox&utm_medium=Application&utm_content=Style%20Editor&utm_campaign=Tool%20Links Note: "Style Editor" was just my example - we should discuss what makes sense for the utm_content value.

You raise some excellent points in bug 989063. Are we sure it blocks this bug, though? This bug is not about embedding MDN documentation but instead about adding tracking parameters to links.

Right, this bug is just to add ?utm_* url params to links to MDN that are inside dev tools.

The problem is "depends on" is too blunt an instrument. What I mean is "when you solve that problem then solve this one too". Having the dependency the other way around would also be fine, I don't really care other than to remind the fixer of that bug to fix this one too.

Re-arranging dependency to make it obvious that we can fix this bug before doing an entire MDN content module in bug 989063.
