Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140314220517 Steps to reproduce: From Firefox 28.0, saved the current bookmarks into a custom file onto the desktop. Reinstalled FF 28.0; ticked "launch Firefox" at the end of install. On the first execution of FF, tried to restore bookmarks: - Menu "Bookmarks", "show all" - "Import / save", "restore...", "from file" Actual results: Any attempt to restore the saved bookmarks failed. After having closed FF, reopened it and attempted the same operation, bookmarks restoring is successful. Similar issue: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468383 (old version, branch 3.0) Expected results: Bookmarks should have been restored on the first attempt from the saved JSON file. Other issue that occurred in the same time: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=988303 Looks like "Launch Firefox" at the end of installer does not launch a completely functional version of FF 28.0; needs to close it and restore it.
Component: Untriaged → Bookmarks & History
I just tried this with an install of FF 57 and it worked fine. Looks like the reporter is gone, and this was quite old, so resolving as incomplete.
