Can't remove memchaser from customization panel in customize mode after moving it there
Upgraded from 28 to 29 Beta, the add-on bar item MemChaser, I dragged into the customize window and it stayed there and could therefore not be accessed again until Firefox was rebooted. Expected: When I drag an item to the customize window, it should go to the 'additional tools and features' window automatically.

I don't understand. What do you mean by "the customize window" ? Did you drag it to the panel and then you couldn't move it from the panel when customizing? Is the screenshot just showing how memchaser looks or does it relate to what you wrote? You're not in customize mode in the screenshot, so I'm generally just very confused. Please give more detailed steps to reproduce.
I can reproduce that issue very easily. Here some steps which will make it clearer to understand. Thanks Andrew for reporting it! Steps: 1. Install latest version of memchaser in an Australis build 2. Make sure Memchaser is shown in the navigation toolbar 3. Open customization mode 4. Drag the Memchaser widget to the right of the developer tools icon (shortcut icons) 5. Try to drag MemChaser back Step 5 will fail and you will have to restart Firefox to make it happen. Until then the Memchaser widget will live as shortcut icon and will be updated with memory information.
OS: Windows 7 → All
Hardware: x86_64 → All
Summary: Dropping item in customize window does not immediately go to 'Additional tools and features' to be dragged out again → After dropping item into the right side of the customize window it's not accessible anymore until a restart
I'm not convinced this warrants tracking. Someone needs to investigate *why* it can't be removed. Does memchaser ship its own copy of the SDK?

How do I even get a copy of the github version, seeing as I don't have ant, and using the add-on SDK is broken because its virtualenv setup doesn't deal with mozrunner installed elsewhere? :-\
So memchaser 0.5.2.1 is based on the SDK v1.15. As we have seen on bug 961846 there are needs for fixes in that version. So version 1.16 is about to be released. Also we are currently working on updating memchaser for Australis. But not sure if this work is really the cause for this issue. I might have to take another look and check how other restartless extensions behave for those steps.
I tried with the version that's on AMO, against current Nightly, and I can't reproduce. Memchaser becomes the placeholder icon (although it's causing the panel items to wrap incorrectly, which is a separate issue) and can still be dragged.
While I have seen this issue with my daily profile from last week, which I'm already using for a while with Australis builds, I'm not able to reproduce it anymore. Not with that profile and Aurora, nor with a fresh profile and Nightly/Release. Not sure what was causing this. Andrew, can you please check again which specific steps are necessary to get this problem shown? As best try with a fresh profile (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?esab=a&s=profile+manager&r=0&as=s)

Not tracking (cf comment #3). Feel free to propose again if you disagree.
I don't have the time to check and reproduce at this moment, however if there's somebody that can, great! If not, I'll consider the issue fixed. :)
