I installed a few open webapps using firefox aurora for android. Some number of days later I received a notification saying 13 of them could be updated I clicked on the notification, saw a bunch of downloading, then additional approval screens, all of which led to failures with the message "an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed"

The error means that the APK you're downloading now (from the APK Factory) has a different signature to the one you downloaded earlier (from the APK Factory). This should, essentially, never happen.

I can reproduce this, because I had been switching environments. Update will hit whichever is your current environment causing a mismatch. I don't believe this is what is causing bwalker's issue as he is pointed at production. It's possible it is Bug#988450, checking.

Created "Bell Bottoms" which is an app that is always out of date http://ozten.com/random/apk-factory/ Click the "Install Bell Bottoms" button. Updates show up in the Factory after 30 minutes. Using this method, I didn't repro the issue. I'll keep my Andorid pinned to production for 24 hours also.

(In reply to Austin King [:ozten] from comment #3) > I can reproduce this, because I had been switching environments. Almost all of the apps that triggered this error I may well have installed either using a different Firefox or before updating my factoryURL pref, so I think your comment 3 applies to most of them. However, I only just became addicted to "2+2=2048", and I'm pretty sure I installed it using a Beta or Aurora that points to production factory only 9 days ago.

Per bug 1235869, we're going to disable the Android web runtime, so we won't fix this bug in it. (This is part of a bulk resolution of bugs in the Firefox for Android::Web Apps component, from which I attempted to exclude bugs that are not specific to the runtime, but it's possible that I included one accidentally. If so, I'm sorry, and please reopen the bug!)
