Steps to reproduce:

Despite having the preference disabled, Fennec is still badgering users with messages "Follow along with Firefox for Android development through our Fennec Nightly Twitter account!"
What you're seeing is a snippet. "Product announcements" and "snippets" are different things, but I agree this is confusing in settings, and users have no way to know these are different things.

A quick fix would be to make the user-visible product announcements setting also disable snippets.
