Details

Str:
Have google calender open in a tab.
Create an event that happens in the next few minutes.
Goto bugzilla bug, attach a patch, then click on browse.
Leave the file browser open.
Wait until the google calendar tab pops up a tab model dialog and switches to that tab.
My Firefox hung with 100% cpu, I could see no way out of it.
This is a *very* old bug -- I see it in FF 4.0.1, which is as far back as I tested.

I suspect this is a variant of bug 476541, and that there's little or nothing we can do about it (aside from a complete rewrite of our modal dialog code on the Mac, especially at the Gecko/cross-platform level, for which see bug 478073).

I'll try to find time to look for a workaround. But in the meantime I don't think this bug is particularly urgent: It's been reported a couple of times over the years (see bug 440560 and bug 735992; so this bug is technically a dup), but it's apparently not often encountered.
Better/simpler STR:

1) Log into Google Calendar (http://calendar.google.com).
2) Create an "event" 4-5 minutes in the future. Set it to show a "pop-up" reminder one minute before the event.
3) Choose File : Open (which displays a native modal dialog).
4) Wait until the pop-up reminder is displayed. At this point you'll hang.
Thanks, I just wanted to file quickly and didn't do a search for existing bugs.

Any reason not to mark as dupe of bug 476541 then?
Sounds good to me.
