Attached patch Fix - v1Splinter Review
Untested, but mimics what I changed in Thunderbird's tabmail.xml. Sorry I missed this.

Fix - v1

Thanks for the patch.
>+            oldPanel.removeAttribute("selected");
>+            this.panelContainer.selectedPanel.setAttribute("selected", "true");

I think there should be a comment before those two lines like:
>+ // Make sure the new panel is marked selected.
r = me with that fixed.

The issue has been there for me since SeaMonkey 2.24 at least and I had to return to version 2.21 to get the calendar to work correctly again. Impossible for me to have anything visible in the calendar: no button, no calendar, no task, no event etc.
I really would appreciate to be able to keep up with new releases of SeaMonkey improving the safety and correcting crash bugs.
BR,
PhL
I also want to add, still related to Calendar, that after the recent time shift to Daylight Saving Time in Europe (Paris), the version 2.21 of Lightning showed a current time that was at the old time. Impossible for me to correct this... After installing SeaMonkey 2.24 then 2.25 (in separated directories from 2.21 reference), and coming back to 2.21, all was normal again in Lightning's window. What could be the cause? Should this be mentioned as a separate bug?
Philippe, your issue is not related to this bug. Please make sure you are using matching versions based on this page: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Calendar/Calendar_Versions

The time offset looks more like a timezone issue, possibly the events are saved in UTC? Please file a new bug in product Calendar or search for a different bug instead.
The status flags are set incorrect, only SeaMonkey 2.28a1 is affected by this bug.
