Marketplace does not load on Android 4.2. All environments are affected.
Prerequisites:
Android 4.2 device
STR:
1. Open marketplace (any environment) on the native browser.
Expected result:
MP is opened without any issues.
Actual result:
Nothing is displayed. The page is blank (see attached screenshot).
This issue is reproduced manually.
Similar issue was reported in Bug 990581 on Android 4.3 and the bug is resolved.
Note: The issue is also affecting out automated tests which run on Android 4.0

I can reproduce in the native browser on 4.2.1. At the very least we need a nice error and a redirect to firefox.

Unfortunately, this is killing our ability to reliably automate using Sauce Labs (which is our only option at present); see bug 989160. I'll ask Sauce if we can get a different version/browser.

Sorry, was going to ask if you were able to get a new platform from Sauce labs.

NP; we've been pointed to Appium[1] by Sauce Labs (which, conveniently, we can run through their SaaS infra, as we already do with Web).
Andrei has a working prototype of some Marketplace tests as a replacement for our loss in Android coverage, so I'll have him weigh in.

Hi Andy!
We have a problem regarding this issue.
I first worked on testing Android Emulator + Appium locally, had everything working fine locally. But when tried to implement this on Saucelabs I found out that Sauce does not support Mobile Web Application + Appium: https://support.saucelabs.com/entries/51370580-Android-Desired-Capabilities
What this means, is that I cannot open the Native Android Browser app to start testing using Saucelabs, but I can do this locally without any problems, tests run just fine.
We have the same problem reported here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/appium-discuss/0VZqvR4rAoc/uyA0k_dP40EJ
When I contacted the support on Saucelabs, they recommended me to use Android Driver, which we are already using, and currently having problems with. "Selenium project no longer supports the AndroidDriver." issue seen here (https://code.google.com/p/selenium/issues/detail?id=3088)
A second choice that I tried was Selendroid, but this is also using Android Driver for testing, having the same issues as with Selenium.
By the way, I currently changed the version of Android to 4.4 because Marketplace site loads on this version, but with Webdriver we are now experiencing new issues. Persona window does not appear after clicking on "Sign in" button.
These videos were done locally. (Testing with Selendorid locally, it uses the same AndroidDriver, and we have the same issue as on Saucelabs, Persona window does not appear.)
Android Driver: http://tinypic.com/r/zmzaio/8
Selendroid: http://tinypic.com/r/1rovav/8
Maybe our new chance to get this running is to talk to Selendroid support into fixing this issue with Webdriver.
