Description: Sometimes when attempting to take a photo / video the camera app will give an error and then freeze. Repro Steps: 1) Update a Tarako to BuildID: 20140407004001 2) Use the device for a while. Try USB transfers, opening other apps, running adb logcat. 3) Open camera app and attempt to take a picture / video. 4) Repeat 2 & 3 until an error message appears. Actual: One or both of the following: A) A message prompts: "Picture not saved. An error prevented Camera from saving the picture" B) The camera app locks up and becomes unusable. Expected: The picture / video is saved. 1.3t Environmental Variables: Device: Tarako 1.3t MOZ BuildID: 20140407004001 Gaia: d9ac78148591a50356dd5a82d2d295eeb7c234a6 Gecko: f105ec652173 Version: 28.1 Firmware Version: sp8810 Keywords: crash, freeze, Notes: Related to bug 828918 and possibly related to bug 993201 Repro frequency: Low repro. 4 occurences thus far on two devices. We need clearer STR here to reproduce the bug.
This might have to do with the LMK issue.
Whiteboard: 1.3tarakorun2 → 1.3tarakorun2, OOM
Lionel - is it possible to narrow down an STR for this case? This would help us determine as to whether to block on the issue.
Flags: needinfo?(lmauritson)
So far what I can come up with is to take pictures, switch camera modes, and view the gallery and video app a lot of times and in no particular order. Eventually when taking a picture after that the message may appear. Trying to take a picture quickly before the app fully loads may cause the message or the camera to freeze up. I haven't been able to get more specific than that, and repeating the steps prior to getting it one time do not always cause it to happen again. Sorry I can't get you anything more specific than that.

Still leaving steps-wanted here - we need more specific STR to action this.
(In reply to Jason Smith [:jsmith] from comment #5) > Still leaving steps-wanted here - we need more specific STR to action this. User able to reproduce this issue intermittently at a 50% rate with below STR. Repro Steps: 1) Update a Tarako to BuildID: 20140417004002 2) Tap Marketplace App and close after it loads completely (icons appear) by tapping homescreen button 3) Tap Calendar App and close after it loads completely (calendar appears) by tapping homescreen button 4) Tap Camera icon 5) As App open, rotate device from portrait to landscape 6) Tap photo icon Actual: This is intermittent as one of the three happens A) A message prompt: "Picture not saved. An error prevented Camera from saving the picture" (of the five failures, occurred only once) B) The camera app locks up and photos/videos cannot be taken/recorded. (of the five failures, occurred four times) C) Camera operates as expected (five times - the inability to reproduce reported defect) Expected: The picture is taken and user can take more pictures or perform other functionality 100 percent of the time. Repro Rate 5/10 = 50% On the five occasions when user was unable to reproduce the issue, restarting the phone and attempting the above STR again was successful in reproducing the issue 4 out of those 5 times. Although the overall 50 percent repro rate, user never accomplished three successive repros. Using comment 6's STR, can we check if this happens on 1.3?
Keywords: qawanted
There were some camera bugs that got patched recently. We should retest this to see how things are. Also there may be a possibility that the camera is memory leaking.
Can you retest with today's build please? I think there's some fixes that made camera better.

Hi mclemmons, Please give some feedback when you check this happens on 1.3.
I have not been able to reproduce this issue on a Buri device running the latest 1.3 build. I used the steps provided in Comment 6 about twenty times and did not see this issue occur, everything appears to work as expected. (In reply to Naoki Hirata :nhirata (please use needinfo instead of cc) from comment #9) > Can you retest with today's build please? I think there's some fixes that > made camera better. Leaving qawanted to address this comment.
