(Whiteboard: [teachingkit] [kit])

On the Webmaker discussion list, lot of us have been inspired lately by the idea of a set of activities that can help mentors teach the web in low-fi and offline environments.

I propose the creation of a Teaching Kit, codesigned with Webmaker community members, that offers a suite of modular, remixable activities for this purpose.

Kit contents being built here: https://teach.etherpad.mozilla.org/lowfikit Please add your name if you'd like to co-author. Will also use this bug for Design QA once kit draft is created.

Update!

* First activity for this kit completed: "Prototyping with a Teaching Kit Design Canvas on Paper" https://keyboardkat.makes.org/thimble/LTU0ODUzNjMy/prototyping-with-a-teaching-kit-design-canvas and translated into Spanish by @amaciel https://amaciel.makes.org/thimble/LTUwNzY0MTg1Ng==/prototipando-kits-con-dibujos-y-bocetos-en-papel
* Second activity, Code Castles, in progress by Chad Sansing
Does anyone have any ideas about how to handle an asset within thimble that we want people to be able to print out? Is there good HTML code to use to make something print out easily? This is an issue I think we need to tackle as part of this teaching kit.

Hey Karen! Exciting that you have a new activity up! Unfortunately, link isn't working for me. Do you have a new one?

Also, Fuzzy is working on making the new Teaching Kit redesigns optimized for both mobile, and print. Let's check with him to see what his status is. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=990117

Here is the right link: https://karenlouisesmith.makes.org/thimble/MTgwNTUxNjgw/web-literacy-bingo

I will add comments to the bug on optimizing for printing. Thanks for proving the link there.

Karen, I love this! Such a great lo-fi activity to share with learners.

Two small suggestions:
* Perhaps link a template of those cards as a PDF file, for easy printing and editing? Would be happy to help create that PDF in Illustrator if you'd like
* Would also be great to see a few photos of this in-action, even if just as samples. We could take some at All Hands?

Awesome.
I added a PDF of the card and to extend it one step further, an answer key.

Update: Some of us are in San Francisco this week, so we'll be finalising the first 10 activities to release kit version 1 here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1002869 Have an activity you'd like us to make? Suggest it in bug!
