Steps to reproduce:

I tried to enter a message in native language that's when i understood that Firefox OS does not allow you to change the keyboard format , i tried to hack on that using the web developer tools of the browser but i failed.


Actual results:

Could not enter the message in native language


Expected results:

there should be a provision to the user to enter the language of his / her interest.

Could you elaborate on this? Where were you trying to enter the new message in, the SMS app? Or another one? Which device and Firefox OS version are you on?

Firefox OS supports changing the default language and allows using multiple keyboards at the same time, you can find some information here about changing the default language here:

If you go into the "Keyboard" settings instead of the "Language" ones you'll also be able to add more keyboards.

i was trying to save my friends name in a native language in the contacts , but was unable to enter it and the search button which display's the alphabets for faster search cannot display native words.

Can you specify which alphabet is this? Have you tried changing the default language or adding the appropriate keyboard as described in comment 1?

yeah, i went to the settings and was successful in changing the language,but there is only few languages i did not find regional languages like Hindi or Tamil , besides i don't have a Firefox OS mobile either keon or peak . i tried to install Firefox os in my hardware but was not working fine and i had a chance to hack on the keon set a couple of days back which was updated with latest version . my bug report is about: even if u have managed to type in a language of your interest to save a contact the search button for fast search in contacts wont display it .

OK, let me see if I understand your problem correctly: assuming you have created a contact using a Tamil or Hindi character set (for example by importing it) you are unable to search it because the proper keyboard to enter Tamil/Hindi characters is not available. Is this correct? If this is the case you should have a look at bug 991509 or bug 987496 which track respectively adding Tamil and Hindi input.
