In bug 596343 we added a special UI screen to give users a one time chance to disable or uninstall add-ons during a Firefox version upgrade. While we don't have telemetry data on this, we expect that a vanishingly small set of Firefox users are running an old enough version of Fx (8.0, according to the bug) and can be expected to upgrade to a modern Fx in the same profile.

We'd like to remove that screen and the supporting code to reduce maintenance burden; see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=760356#c9 and subsequent discussion there.
Is there someone we should get ux-review from on this to decide whether we should go ahead?

Bug 899173 proposes resurrecting this code, but I don't know whether we'll end up doing that soon.

How much work is actually involved in re-working bug 760356's patch such that this bug doesn't block bug 760356?

I have WIP that works around this in bug 760356; it turned out not to be difficult. This doesn't need to hold up the other bug.

This UI screen has been removed and this bug is no longer valid.
