Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.4) Gecko/20010913 why under PREFERENCES > applications > helper applications there is only TEXT/HTML type? This explains why RealVideo do not works and even no plugin. Not even Java Applications. Nothing except text, html and images. Please, check it out. p.s. - ok, I am using latest mozilla available, I downloaded RealVideo and MediaPlayer to the latest one and it´s even not working. You can check in the URL above that no video is playing on mozilla.

Should be UNCONFIRMED, but you can't go from NEW to UNCONFIRMED.
WORKSFORME, using build 2001091403, Win98. I just tried viewing one of the RealVideo clips on cnn.com.
No way to make it work for me. With Redmond´s browser it´s ok, but no way to make it work with any mozilla version and even with Netscape 6.1. No Java applets, no RealVideo, nothing, just text/html. I have checked on mime types on browser config and there is only a single line there: text/html. That probably explains why it occurs...
It sounds like your install of Netscape 6.1 is incomplete or has become damaged. Please completely re-run NS6Setup.exe and be sure to choose the FULL INSTALL option to ensure you get support for Java and Real. Also, not all 3rd party plugins have updated all their installers yet. If you have Nav 4.x installed, we will try to locate certain plugins there. For others, you'll have to manually copy the DLL's from the Nav 4.x plugins folder to the Mozilla/Netscape 6.1 or contact the plugin vendor for status on an updated installer. The mime-type settings in the preferences do not effect embedded-style plugins like are seen on CNN. Instead, use this dialog to override what mozilla should do when it encounters a specific mime-type. It's a helper-app setting. For checking the installation of embedded-style plugins, select Help | About Plugins (or goto about:plugins). For Mozilla, you may have to manually copy plugins from their coresponding paths in Netscape 6.1.
I have done that and it still not working. I think installing NS6 not solved cause now paths is poiting to NS6 path instead of Mozilla´s. I don´t know how to solve that. I think mozilla should come with all plugins like Netscape. I can´t simply not imagine why this do not occurs... it´s an annoying issue. And worst. I had Nestecape 4.7x installed. All programs actually writes help sections in HTML, so if you are using for example, a program and calls the help, the programs searches for NS 4.7x. Even NS6 fixed this, as they do not search for 6. They search for 4.7x. Mozilla is not responding in this issue as well. So, now, when I try to see help from programs like those from Adobe, I cannot see a single line, as no browser is registered (NS6 or Mozilla) and I unistalled 4.7x,,, thats really annoying... please solve that!!!! please include all plugins in the installation and fix that registry issue.
No way man, I have downloade the latest 0.94+ and it is still not working. I have installed back NS6.1 and nothing works, except that now Flash works. RealVideo, Windows Media Player streams or no other plugin is called by the program. I have also that "puzzle" icon GET PLUGIN... arghhh... I tryed it on NS6 and inside that everything is fine, but when I close NS and open Mozilla, arghhh, just flash is working.
Mozilla does not come with plugins because of licensing issues. Mozilla is distrubuted as open source (Netscape is not) whereas most plugin vendors have not opened up their source. That's why they come with Netscape and not Mozilla, but it's somewhat the same code anyway. Mike, your installation is probably really screwed up. Let's try again, clean from the top. The Netscaep 6.1 FULL Installer WILL install Java and Real. First, Download this file: ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape6/english/6.1/windows/win32/N6Setup.exe Next, UNINSTALL Netscape 6 or Mozilla from the Add/Remove Programs control panel and run NS6Setup.exe. You will be presented with a option to do a Recommended, Full, or Custom install. Choose FULL then click next twice. Pay careful attention to the status of the install process. You should see Java and Real being installed. After installation, visit about:plugins. If you did a clean, FULL install and choose the default path, you should see these plugins listed: [RealPlayer(tm) G2 LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In (32-bit)] - C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape 6\components\nppl3260.dll [Java Plugin 1.3] - C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape 6\plugins\NPOJI600.dll [Mozilla Default] - C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape 6\plugins\npnul32.dll [Shockwave Flash] - C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape 6\plugins\npswf32.dll If they are NOT listed in about:plugins after doing a FULL Install, then this could possibly be a VALID BUG in the installer component of Netscape 6.1. Try to locate those DLL's on your disk and then manually copy them. Reload about:plugins and they should apear. We need more information to reproduce. Your problem with "Help" sounds like a problem with Netscape 6 as being the defaut browswer for Windows. When you re-install, be sure you answer YES to the question asking to set your "Default Browser". I know there are some bugs there but 6.2 should fix those. Also, having only 1 profile and enabling QuickLaunch in the Advance Prefs may help.

works fine with complete install on windows NT and win 2k using today's branch build. I see java and realplaer working fine.
Peter, thank you for your help but this don´t work. As I am trying to say, Netscape 6.1 is working very fine, playing RealVideo, Flash, Java, etc., but, Mozilla from 0.92 to 0.94+ (0.92 is the first I tested) is not working. When I issue HELP > ABOUT PLUGINS in Netscape 6.1 its everything ok. But, on Mozilla I see just see the DEFAULT PLUGIN Mozilla Default Plug-in File name: C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\plugins\npnul32.dll Default Plug-in Mime Type Description Suffixes Enabled * Mozilla Default Plug-in (*.*) * Yes JUST THAT! And another question, suppose I make it work and after that? will I have to have both browsers installed in order to make mozilla work correctly using NS plugins?
You can try to copy the content of the NS6 Plugins folder over to Mozilla Plugins folder and see if this solves the problem. For the RealPlayer you should copy the two files Peter mentioned from the Components folder.
Ahh...I see, this is JUST in Mozilla. Marking INVALID as this is a configuration issue. Mozilla is not a commercial product but is distrubuted by mozilla.org for testing purposes and does not come with ANY plugins except for npnul32.dll. In Mozilla, it is recommended that you install plugins MANUALLY by copying them. In Netscape, the installer is nice enough to do this for you. Some plugin installers (like Director/Shockwave [not flash]) have been updated to correctly find ANY Gecko-based browser (like Mozilla) and install correctly, but most are currently hard-coded to only look for Netscape in the registry. Eventually, once plugin installers get updated, the npnul32.dll plugin will direct you to download and (re)install the correct plugin which should find Mozilla/Netscape through the registry. You don't need both browsers installed to use plugins in Mozilla, but it helps for the time being. In my configuration, I use Netscape 6.x as my primary browser and only use mozilla builds for testing. When I need to test a plugin in mozilla, I copy it from the Netscape 6.1 install and visit about:plugins to activate.

OK guys, thanks for all help. I had to copy files from plugins folders in order to make it work. Everything seems to be fine now except for RealVideo. Look the attachments. I have been on http://radio.yahoo.com and clicked on any link from any radio. Then the page tests my system and gives two diferent results, one with netscape and one with mozilla. Anyway thanks and I hope someday it works for both.

For Real to work, copy nppl3260.dll and nppl3260.xpt into your Mozilla "Components" folder.
