I'm sure people are really proud of the nifty "enhancements" that Mozilla's
message display window makes when showing plain text messages, however:
Why can't I turn them off? I found an option for disabling emoticon rendering,
which is a start (though the decision to have it on by default is highly dubious
IMO, and smacks of AOLism), but I can't find any way to turn off *bolding*, or
">" translation, both of which make reading some of the messages I usually deal
with (which include C code which has "*"s all over the place, etc) rather annoying.
Many of the messages I receive in plaintext were sent in plaintext for a
_reason_, and shouldn't be meddled with. With others, I just don't appreciate
being forced to view them through somebody else's idea of what's "pretty".

Marking these all WORKSFORME sorry about lack of response but were very
overloaded here. Only reopen the bug if you can reproduce with the following steps:
1) Download the latest nightly (or 0.9.6 which should be out RSN)
2) Create a new profile
3) test the bug again
If it still occurs go ahead and reopen the bug. Again sorry about no response
were quite overloaded here and understaffed.

What's wrong with
pref("mail.display_struct", false);
? Only because it doesn't turn off handling > lines as quotes?

This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state.
If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way.
If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar).
If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state.

MASS-CHANGE:
This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but still has no comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project 5 years ago.
Because of this, we're resolving the bug as EXPIRED.
If you still can reproduce the bug on SeaMonkey 2 or otherwise think it's still valid, please REOPEN it and if it is a platform or toolkit issue, move it to the according component.
