There are new lines that have been added (0.9.4) to the left of the folder names, in the account/folder frame in the mail window. These lines, at least on the Mac 0.9.4 talkback build (Build ID: 2001091311), overdraw the arrows that control expansion/collapse of the accout/folder contents. The lines should only be drawn up to a point a couple/few pixels from the other arrow/triangle graphic. This is a minor and purely cosmetic bug, but it's very unpleasant to look at.

I would argue that the lines shouldn't be there at all. If finder can do without them in folder views then surely Mozilla can as well.

Confirmed using Mac/2001091311 (0.9.4) using both Modern and Classic themes. No obvious duplicate. I am, however, altering the summary to hopefully clarify the problem. The heirarchy lines were probably engineered in the first place only for Windows or other OS's that use +/- instead of the Mac's rotating triangle for heirarchy expansion. Ian is correct, however, in that such lines are not a normal part of the Mac OS UI experience. They certainly don't belong in Classic.

I can accept the argument that the lines are not part of the MacOS UI, and therefore shouldn't be there. However, they are nice, and I would be fine with them staying. But they look bad now as they clash with the "twisties". It should be noted that this is also a problem in the gtk system on UNIX. (tested BSD/OS; presumed on all other gtk systems). It's uglier on the Mac, IMHO, but present in gtk as well. Should the Platform/OS be changed?

This is really a mac classic themes bug that affects all outliners (see also the sidebar history panel). I presume win classic wants the connecting lines; I don't know about Modern. If the connecting lines look too ugly on Modern, try filing a bug against that theme; maybe the twisties just need to be changed in order to make them blend better with the lines. Patch also removes an empty rule I noticed in (mac classic) outliner.css. Not sure how that got there.

Filed bug 115952 for the Modern theme. The lines really don't belong on the Mac OS in ANY theme IMHO.

*knock knock* Anything holding up this patch? :-) I'd really like to see how this looks in Classic.

This bug is targeted at a Mac classic platform/OS, which is no longer supported by mozilla.org. Please re-target it to another platform/OS if this bug applies there as well or resolve this bug. I will resolve this bug as WONTFIX in four weeks if no action has been taken. To filter this and similar messages out, please filter for "mac_cla_reorg".
