Bug 969520 will add a way for new Webmaker users to be associated with referral strings. This means anyone running events/campaigns will be able to send new users to a webmaker domain with a referral code (i.e. "ref=makerparty2014") on the url, and it will be recorded in the user's account if they CREATE a new account. This does not apply to existing accounts. I'll document the technical bits in the wiki.

Thanks Chris. Step by step documentation for people like Paula and Amira will be helpful.

What page is best suited for this on the wiki? https://wiki.mozilla.org/Webmaker/Maker_Party/referrer_api ?

Chris let us know when this is done and we'll get the Partner team to try it out.

Hi Chris Looks good to me. I suggest adding the set of examples that you kindly created for me in the referrer ID bug comments. Good for people to understand that you can direct partners to any page and still have the RID set. Then I think it is up to the partner and maker party team to flesh this out with details such as a link to a spreadsheet with all the partners we set up etc. Thank you Paula

Hey guys, evolving the bug a bit. Referrer tracking is a thing we have now. Referrer leaderboard is also a thing (John, can you add a link?) What we need is a way to generate consistent referrer ids in communications with Maker Party partners. For example, when Code Club gets an email about Maker Party the link needs to be http://webmaker.org/?ref=codeclub. Amira, will Maker Party comms be going through a BSD send queue? Andrea, is this something we can achieve in BSD?

(don't mind me here) I'm just assigning everything in the Metrics component a priority to help with the new wiki page here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Foundation/Metrics
Priority: -- → P2

Love that page Adam. Let's phase out the old Webmaker Metrics Wiki https://wiki.mozilla.org/Webmaker/Metrics and just use this going forward. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Foundation/Metrics updated
